Mortal Kombat XL will be released only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – sorry PC Gamers. NetherRealm Studios, the game developer of the popular fighting title Mortal Kombat X, has said that Mortal Kombat XL will not appear on PC.
Mortal Kombat X was released in April of 2015 on Xbox One, Windows, and PS4. The game, while garnering world-wide critical-acclaim, and becoming one of the best-selling video-games of 2015, had a poor PC port.
The PC version was riddled with a lot crippling bugs and memory leaks on launch-day. Many PC gamers took to the forums to complain about connectivity issues and other game breaking problems. The developer, while not fast to fix them, has indeed patched up the issues.
Yet, upon downloading and installing the patch that was aimed to fix those pesky issues, PC MK fans got yet another motive to complain to the game dev. All of their saved games where lost.
The problems with connectivity were so bad, that NetherRealm Studios eventually ended up offering, as gifts, 10,000 free Krypt Koins to PC gamers, as a means to make amends.
Earlier this month, NetherRealm Studios announced that they will be releasing Mortal Kombat XL later this March. It’s not going to be a sequel, but it will include all of the previously released DLCs – downloadable content; and the upcoming content pack – Kombat Pack 2.
Yet again PC gamers got the short end of the tick, as NetherRealm community manager, Tyler Lansdown, has said in a forum post that Mortal Kombat XL will not be coming to the PC medium – at all.
The choice to release Mortal Kombat XL on consoles only doesn’t really come as a surprise. Given the the PC port of the game was downright despicable, popularity for the game on the PC has declined. More so, gamers prefer to play fighters, brawlers on consoles rather than on PC.
Yet, there are still thousands of people who still want to play Mortal Kombat on PCs, and will see the lack of support quite disappointing. PC gamers have taken to forums to complain about NetherRealm Studios’ decision.
Some gamers eve go as far as believing that the game dev has stopped offering support for the PC version all-together, or it will as soon as Mortal Kombat XL will be released in March.
Kombat Pack 2 will also be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, sadly.
We expect to here more complaints regarding NetherRealm Studios’ decision over the upcoming weeks.
Is this fair? Or do you think that NetherRealm Studios should man-up and give PC gamers a Mortal Kombat XL version? One without bugs or memory leaks.
