Official Facebook app for Windows 8.1 OS has been refreshed again, this time with additional features and tweaks inherited from the web version of the social network.
Windows 8.1 as well as the previous Windows 8 users were waiting for the official Facebook app on Windows Store and the third-party developers were using the demand by releasing their own application for the social network and finally the Facebook itself released the app and it has been a big hit so far. Recently, it also received a small update to feature the notification settings inside the app.
Facebook has not yet started the practice of updating the changelog in the Windows Store, but the update seems to be fixing some bugs and added new tweaks. Some of the visible updates are as follows.
The new refreshed Facebook app brings in few Windows 8.1 API to allow download FB photos and make them as lockscreen wallpaper as well as profile picture. Photo comments, sharing photos in chat messages, attachments in chat messages, location sharing on chat and re-sizing up to 320px while snapping 2 or more apps side by side are the new features added to the app. Now the application enables users to share status on their wall or friend’s timeline addition to the same feature via personal message.
Microsoft seems to be more interested in the Windows 8.1 platform, after Microsoft refreshed the OS by bringing in Start button and other previous features back and the OS is praised by many critics already. They are more focusing on improving the app alongside its mobile app for iOS, Windows Phone and Android platforms.
