SpaceX Dragon Capsule’s interiors for astronauts are awesome

SpaceX has released images of its Crew Dragon Space spacecraft, showing off its luxurious black interiors. Elon Musk’s SpaceX is competing with Boeing Co as it wants to become the first firm to take astronauts into space.spacex-dragon-capsule-mission

The capsule, which resembles a luxury sports car, will be able to carry astronauts to the International Space Station in 2017. The photos released Thursday, showed off its sleek and smooth interiors. SpaceX wrote on its website that Dragon made its first commercial (uncrewed) spacecraft to deliver cargo to the space station in 2012. Dragon, which was designed to carry people from the beginning is undergoing the necessary refinements to make that a reality.

“With four windows, passengers can take in views of the Earth, the moon and the wider Solar System right from the seats,” said  the company on its website.

The ship will also include climate-control system, allowing astronauts to set the temperature in the capsule between 65 degrees and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The company added that Crew Dragon’s displays would provide real-time information on the state of the spacecraft’s capabilities – anything from Dragon position in space, to possible destinations, to the environment on board. SpaceX is developing the spacecraft for NASA as a part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

NASA has awarded contracts to Boeing and Space X for developing commercial crew vehicles to carry astronauts, which will also reduce dependence on Russian Soyuz rockets. Though SpaceX has successfully tested Crew Dragon Capsule, to keep astronauts safe, the company has faced a series of failures with Falcon 9 capsules that will carry the capsule to the station.

In June, a Falcon 9 rocket carrying crucial supplies including spare parts, exploded shortly after its launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Musk later attributed to the failure of the mission to the company’s “complacency” following a range of successful launches.
