Although Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users are waiting for the official confirmation of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, as of now the Note 3 devices are receiving the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. From yesterday, US Cellular carrier is rolling out the Lollipop firmware update to its Note 3 users via OTA, which also brings many performance tweaks and security updates as well.samsung-galaxy-note-3-marshmallow

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will be bringing many features to Galaxy Note 3 phablets – multiple user support, custom notification, multi-device support, smarter charging and enhanced performance.

Once you update the device to the latest available official firmware, you can sync your Galaxy Note 3 with other smart devices like washing machines and smart TV. You can also sync music and apps from your phone to any other Android gadgets. You can also adjust the volume controls directly, without having to go to the Settings menu.

Regarding the look and feel, Android 5.1.1 makes many changes to the material design UI. More enhances apps, animations, themes and colorful widgets are available for the updated devices. You can also share your device with any of your friends and family by enabling “Guest Mode” where they will not be able to visit your gallery, see images, messages, etc. You can even apply passwords to disable the Guest Mode. This will keep your privacy intact.

How to download Android 5.1.1 on Galaxy Note 3?

Follow these steps to get the firmware installed on your Samsung phablet.

Make sure you have at least 50-60 percent of battery charged and have a stable WiFi connectivity. Go to the “Settings” menu of the device and tap on “About Device” option. Now you need to select the “Software Update” button and complete the task. You can also use Samsung Kies software to update the device by connecting it to a computer.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Samsung Galaxy Note 3?

As of now, the latest high-end Samsung smartphones such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Duos, Note 4, Note 4 Duos, Edge, Galaxy ALPHA and Galaxy Tab A have been confirmed to receive the latest Android 6.0 firmware. Meanwhile, there is no confirmation available regarding the Marshmallow update to Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S4 smartphones, so far. Stay tuned for more updates.

  1. My Note 3 is 2 yrs old this month & I was due an upgrade but firstly there isn't a Note 5 officially availablle on contract in the UK & secondly, if it were then I'm not sure it's worth the high price of it. So based on the above article & my phone being just 2yrs old, I may not get the next version (in 2 days time) which is Marshmallow. That means my phone & any new phone I may get is only good enough for software updates for 2 years. Not good.

  2. I am a user of this (N9000) smartphone . but there is not any update about Lollipop 5.1.1. There is just 5.0. And I am still waiting for the new version. Because 5.0 has many problem, specially battary problem is really annoying
