Apple Inc’s self-driving car is confirmed by a document

Finally, a leaked document proved that Apple Inc’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) self-driving car becomes a real one from the rumors and it seems the company is seeking for a secure place to test the vehicle over San Francisco Bay regions.apple-icar-concept-image

In the month of May, engineers from “Apple’s secretive Special Project” officially met people from a 2,100 acre of the naval base, GoMentum, which is currently turning into a high-security base for testing the autonomous vehicles.

Apple engineer Frank Fearon wrote:

“We would … like to get an understanding of timing and availability for the space, and how we would need to coordinate around other parties who would be using [it].”

GoMentum is an old naval station, which is used to supply weapon during second world war, and currently, it is a disclosed one with 20miles of paved highway and streets. As of now, the base is closed and guarded by the military and makes it,

“the largest secure test facility in the world” for the “testing, validation and commercialization of connected vehicle (CV) applications and autonomous vehicles (AV) technologies to define the next generation of transportation network infrastructure.”

Honda and Mercedes-Benz are currently carrying their experiments for self-driving cars behind those wire fences. Also, hundreds of engineers were working for Apple in an anonymous office building on that campus with high security.

No sort of official information about the product is leaked so far, but it seems that the self-driving car from Apple is almost ready for the road. Till now, it’s been a rumor that Apple’s self-driving car codenamed Project Titan, first time ever, the same has been documented.

Tim Cook held several meetings with car executives and poached several automotive engineers from several automakers, which includes the head of “Mercedes Benz’s Silicon Valley research arm”. The company is recruiting several experts from automotive experts and also hired engineers from Tesla Motors, A123 Systems and so on.

GoMentum Station comprises of several road features such as highway overpasses, cattle grid, railway crossing and all other things, that a car should pass during the testing process. This enables the company to test its vehicle in all sorts of possible ways.
