Samsung on Thursday unveiled its new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones at the Galaxy unpacked event. The new smartphones are available for preorder from all four major U.S carriers, and will be available for purchase on August 21.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note share the same specifications, and the only major difference is the display. The S6 Edge+ has dual-edge displays while the Note 5 has Samsung’s S Pen stylus. Both the smartphones feature 5.7-inch quad HD Super AMOLED displays, 4GB of RAM and octa-core Exynos 7420 processors. Both the models include 13 megapixel primary camera and 5MP secondary camera. They are available in 32Gb and 64GB variants., and includes MicroSD slots for expanding memory.
Additional features like quick launch allows the user to capture photos faster with fewer taps to unlock the phones. The S Pen feature has also received an upgrade as it allows you to take notes without unlocking the phone, and scroll capture feature to annotate on-screen capture, which can be shared. A new ‘Apps Edge’ feature can be used to pin frequently used app and contacts. Both the smartphones will be available in Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Titanium Silver colors.
Both the devices support Samsung’s wireless Fast Charge feature for its 3,000 mAh battery. The S Pen with Note 5 can now be removed from the phone’s chassis with a click and the screen comes turns on, after it is removed. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 comes with Samsung’s mobile payment service, which was introduced in the US on Sep 28, allowing users to pay at almost every retail location.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be available through specific carriers in the US – $739.99 for the 32GB version, the 64Gb version will be priced at $839.99. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be priced at $814.99 for the 32GB version and $914.99 for the 64GB variant.
Well, speaking about the monthly installments, it will be between $25-29 and $28-30 per month. If you want to buy it without a contract, you will have to spend $700-740 and $815-840, for 32GB and 64GB, respectively.
Products now already listed on Samsung US website. These new smartphones (phablets) will be coming to market on August 21st. Big carriers in US have already announced the pricing for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge +.
