Following the report of automatically disabling Windows Update setting, Samsung has promised to release a new software patch to fix the issue. Earlier this week, Samsung released a new SW update software, which also had a file called ‘Disable_Windowsupdate.exe.’ Many users who downloaded this update complained that it has disabled the Windows Update without their knowledge.
Samsung has been doing really well since its laptop range hit the market. It partnered exclusively with Microsoft and sold PCs all over the globe. The company used to make a few changes to the Microsoft Windows adding components and drivers of its choice while assembling a top rated machine, that too at a competitive price that customers loved.
Recently the company decided to patch the software, which, according to some reports, stopped the laptops/desktops receiving Windows updates, because they overwrote on the customized drivers installed by the Korean giant. It is really important for the machine to have Samsung’s drivers to function properly, as reportedly said by the company while enforcing this ban on Microsoft updates.
But the smartphone-maker adheres to its philosophy of protecting its customers from security risks, thereby scheduling regular updates that consist of many important bug fixes and modifications. The updated software makes a real difference which users can not ignore. Samsung on the other hand will lose the market if it won’t let the users install and download these updates regularly.
In a press release the company official quoted saying,
“Samsung has a commitment to security and we continue to value our partnership with Microsoft. We will be issuing a patch through the Samsung Software Update notification process to revert back to the recommended automatic Windows Update settings within a few days. Samsung remains committed to providing a trustworthy user experience and we encourage customers with product questions or concerns to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.”
Thus, they are trying to revert your machines to the one with Samsung drivers and keep it that way. It is an easy move, but we expect them to sort the problem in their own drivers and let users upgrade to a bug free software, every time a fresh update is released.
