Recently U.S. Space agency NASA announced that, it’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) telescope has discovered a remote galaxy, called “WISE J224607.57-052635.0”, which appears to shine with the light of more than 300 trillion suns, makes it a brightest galaxy ever discovered.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., manages the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) was launched in December 2009 by NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, Washington. The Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, used to scan the entire sky with the help of infrared light and pick up millions of glowing objects in the sky, results in producing millions of images. The ultimate objective of WISE is to find out distant objects in the universe, stand out like ripe cherries and crowded objects in the distant universe, but appear virtually absent in visible-light surveys.
Recently, NASA said has announced after its astronomical survey, the dazzling light is mainly due to the black hole in the “the current record holder for the most luminous galaxy in the universe,”.
According to NASA,
“Super-massive black holes draw gas and matter into a disk around them, heating the disk to roaring temperatures of millions of degrees and blasting out high-energy, visible, ultraviolet, and X-ray light,”
“Light from the galaxy hosting the black hole has travelled 12.5 billion years to reach us, astronomers are seeing the object as it was in the distant past.”
There are two leading theories based on which, scientists are now trying to figure out the root cause of these ‘Super-massive black holes’. Either it grew out of an extremely large black hole to begin with, or it may be a very slow spinning black hole, able to snarl up more gas than its faster-spinning brethren. The recent observations as well as findings of researchers are published in the May 22 issue of The Astrophysical Journal.
