Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) upgrades MacBook Pro with Force Touch; price cut for iMac


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro with new Force Touch trackpad, flash storage and longer battery life. The high-end Retina iMac has received a price cut from $2,499 to $2,299, and has introduced a low-end Retina iMac for $1,999.apple-macbook-pro-2015

The 15-inch MacBook Pro has been added with Force Touch trackpad, a technology which can detect the difference between a small tap and long press tap for various functions. By increasing the number of PCI lanes, MacBook’s storage will be faster. Earlier, the MacBook had two PCI lanes while the upgraded model will carry four lanes.

The high-end MacBook Pro, priced at $2,499 will receive a graphics card update. AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphic card with 2GB DDR5 RAM will replace NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M card. However, the entry-level MacBook Pro, priced at $1,999 will retain the integrated Intel graphic card. Earlier, it was rumored that the older Intel Haswell-based CPU might be upgraded to the latest Intel Broadwell CPUs.

Apple claims that the new upgraded MacBook Pro will offer one hour extra battery life. The model will now receive nine hours of wireless web browsing instead of eight hours. The low-end iMac introduced on Tuesday, will feature a 3.3 GHz quad-core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive. The high-end Mac with Retina 5K is powered by 3.5 GHz quad-core processor Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive. No upgrades were made to this model, except for the price cut.

The latest MacBook Pro and iMac will come loaded with the latest Apple operating system OS X Yosemite. The latest announcement comes ahead of the worldwide developers conference on June 8. The low-end Mac will ship in one day and will be available in Apple stores from tomorrow while the high-end model will ship in 1-3 days.

The updated 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is available today through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4 GHz, 16GB of memory, 256GB of flash storage and Intel Iris Pro graphics starting at $1,999 (US); and with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz, 16GB of memory, 512GB of flash storage and AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics starting at $2,499 (US). Configure-to-order options include faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.0 GHz and flash storage up to 1TB. The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display is available today through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers with a 3.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost Speeds up to 3.7 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics and 1TB of storage starting at $1,999 (US). The top-end iMac now starts at $2,299 (US) and features a 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics and a 1TB Fusion Drive. Configure-to-order options include faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 4.0 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.4 GHz and flash storage up to 1TB.
