Electronic Arts and DICE have confirmed the release date for Mirrors Edge 2, the sequel to the popular parkour game Mirrors Edge, which was released in 2008. The announcement was made at the latest fiscal earnings presentation, and chose to release the game in quarter one of 2016.
Though EA stated that the sequel to Mirrors Edge is in the works, during E3 2013, it did not mention the release date, gameplay details or the platforms. EA is expected to release the game for PC and the current platforms, with the release date anywhere between January 1 to March 31 2016. The sequel will be a reboot of the series, and will tell the story of the game’s protagonist Faith Connors, who is among the popular gaming fictional women characters. Mirrors Edge features a gameplay similar to Assassin’s creed.
EA is currently busy with the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, set to release on November 17. Other major releases include Need for Speed (subtitle to be announced soon), and Plants vs Zombie game for PC that is expected to be released between January and March 2016. A sequel to last year’s Titanfall is in the works, and will be released on in early 2017. T he original Mirrors Edge was released in 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC. More details will be revealed during the E3 conference, next month.
The announcement of a new Plants vs Zombie game comes as a surprise though the storyline is not known. It might either be a sequel to Garden Warfare or a complete reboot of the franchise. During the investors meet, EA stated that it was “looking at any and all” technology from VR goggles to holograms to physical rooms, when questioned about virtual reality. A few incubation efforts are going around the company, added EA.[ Source ]
