Samsung is set to roll out the latest Android 5.1.1 update to Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners in the coming days. A T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge owner and XDA member is the lone user to receive the latest update.
Samsung did not roll out the latest feature with Android 5.0 that allows users to have a Guest Mode. The feature allows any user to have their own personal space, installing own apps, personalize homescreen and secure their setup with a fingerprint. Samsung has already included a Kids mode on Galaxy S6 phones, for lending the phones to children.
“Just received the Android 5.1.1 [over-the-air download],” said sunderwear, an XDA member.
The XDA member owns the T-Mobile Galaxy S6, and mentioned that the device was more snappier. However, he reported that the bootloader of the phone was locked. It remains unclear when T-Mobile and other carriers will release the update to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices.
Sammobile has tested an unstable version of Android 5.1 and found that the guest mode feature works in the same way as stock Android. The XDA member was a ‘developer’ user, and this was the reason why the test build was rolled out to him first. No other T-Mobile users or any other users has reported about the update. The update is also expected to bring the major feature to the phones, which will be unavailable on other Lollipop running devices. The update will be rolled out to users in a phased manner, and the update will be released anytime now.
Have you received the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge smartphones? Let us know.
