Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) is certainly working hard to get into the main frame of the smartphone industry, which is basically dominated by Android and iOS devices. It is also quite clear that the efforts that Micrsoft is putting through under the reign of Mr. Satya Nadella, has yielded positive results in the recent past.
According to the reports, Microsoft as already sold more than 8.6 million Lumia smartphones in the first quarter of 2015. The rise in the sales figure of Windows phones also means that Microsoft has had quite a rise in the revenue generated during this period, which is approximately about $1.4 billion.
On the hand, the reports about the launch of the new flagship device from have been strengthened over the past few months. According to the reports, Microsoft is gearing up for the launch of Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL. Rumors also suggest that this could also see the launch of Windows 10, the much awaited next generation Windows Operating System.
The Lumia 940 is expected to have a screen size of 5.2 inches, while Lumia 940 XL will probably come with a 5.7 inch screen. The primary camera is expected to be 25 megapixels coupled with the 5 megapixel secondary camera. With upgraded hardware to hexacore or octacore processors, Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL might well have features like iris scanner, 3D support, etc..
While the world is waiting for the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has decided to discontinue Lumia 830. The rumors are that the discontinuation of Lumia 830 gives a clear indication to the launch of its successor, Lumia 840. The experts believe that if Lumia 840 comes into existence, its specs will be one step ahead of Lumia 830.
