Acer has already made its way amidst the top ranked companies in the United States and now it plans to venture more into the probably the most competitive industry of the states. Till date, we have seen that Acer has maintained, somewhat, a distance from the smartphone industry. But things are set to change this weekend, as Acer gears up to launch its smartphone Liquid M220 in the United States. The announcement comes from Acer stating that their smartphone Liquid M220 will be available in all leading Microsoft stores.
The Liquid M220 is Acer’s first smartphone under the brand of Liquid, will be running on Windows 8.1 operating system. The good thing is that the device will get a free update to Windows 10 as and when it is launched, which is probably just a few months away.
The smartphone clearly looks like Acer has tried hard to make a good impression with its first Windows based smartphone. In fact, Liquid M220 is quite good in its own standards. The smartphone comes with a 4 inch WVGA display with a 800×480 pixel resolution.
The device is powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual core processor and has 1 GB RAM, 8GB internal storage coupled with a MicroSD slot. The device also sports a 5 MP primary camera with LED flash and 2 MP secondary camera. The 1300 mAh battery promises 3 hours of talk time and 200 hours at Stand by.
Although, this is by no means the measure of a high end smartphone, but it does pack a punch. In addition, the smartphone is expected to well in the budget as it has been priced at $79.99. The smartphone will be in stores and online from the month of June and will be available in Pure White and Mystic Black.
Microsoft’s statement regarding the Windows 10 OS update on Acer Liquid M220:
