Today, Sony released the SmartWatch 2 along with unlocked and waterproof smartphones, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 to be available in US retails.

Directly competing with Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, with more compatibility, the second generation SmartWatch is available for $199.95 at Sony Online Store and through some major online retailers. More to this, this gadget can be used with any phones that runs on Android 4.0 and later versions.
First unveiled in June 2013, Sony SmartWatch 2 can be used for notifications (with vibration too!) from popular apps like Gmail, Facebook and Twitter with the ability to “like”, “retweet” from the watch and other tasks like checking text messages and viewing calendar events. The water-resistant gadget boasts a 1.6-inch trans-reflective display with 220 x 176 resolution and comes with longer battery life of 3 to 4 days. Comes with the regular style of watch with timers and alarms, it could also pair via NFC on NFC devices and via Bluetooth on other Android phones.
Sony says that there are more than 80 Android apps are optimized for the SmartWatch 2 with the additional of 200 apps built by the company for the previous model.
Consumers will have 2 choices – either a stainless steel strap or leather strap with black and brown colors, Additionally, you can use your own custom belts on the standard 24mm pin mount. With the introduction of the Sony SW2, there comes 2 smartphones – Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1.
Z Ultra phablet has a large 6.4-inch Triluminos FullHD display screen, 8MP camera and available for $649.99 for HSPA+ variant and $679.99 for LTE variant. Whereas, with the 20.7MP camera, the smaller Xperia Z1 is available for just $669.99 for only HSPA+ model with set of innovative camera applications.
