Jiro Mendez stated that the incident had taken place when he and Elias Ecevo, his roommate was in the parking lot of the apartment arguing over which smartphone is better Android or iPhone, as per the Tulsa Police Department. There was an escalation in the fight when Mendez was hit by Ecevo in the head with a beer bottle before he stole his car.

Police stated that  his car was seen parked at a short distance away from their complex. Rod Hummel from Tulsa Police conveyed that in the 35-year career as a cop, this debate has been the oddest reasons ever seen for assault. The police found roommates covered in blood and with lacerations on their bodies. Treatment was given to them before they were transferred to the Tulsa County Jail on Friday afternoon. Both men were described as intoxicated.

Police say the two men broke beer bottles and stabbed each other with them. One of the men smashed a bottle over the back of the other man’s head.

Police said that both Ecevo and Mendez were charged with a deadly weapon for assault. Later, after being released from the hospital, they were taken to the jail. There was another man too who was present in the parking lot during the fight, but as per the police, he fled before the officers had responded. Police have not been able to identify him yet.
