Apple iPad turns 5 this Friday

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad, the device that has revolutionized the tech world was launched 5 years ago on the same date. iPad was actually the last big product that was launched by Steve Jobs. It is a device that has revolutionized the role of computing at events. iPad has given PC’s a run for their money in the last 5 years.ipad-air_2717530b

iPad was released on 3 April, 2010 by Steve Jobs. This was the first edition of iPads launched by Steve Jobs himself. iPad was considered to be the first mainstream tablet device in the market. An ample of business users have adopted the use of iPads in their work ever since.

According to the contributor at ZDNet, Kevin Tofel, “That first iPad, like all of those that followed it, felt like a picture frame to me; an interactive window into the world of apps and websites, the basic design intent was to get the technology get out of your way so that you could immerse yourself into whatever task, app, or media you wanted to view. Apple essentially delivered a large screen that just happened to have a computer behind it.”

iPads have evolved since the launch of its first edition. The first iPad device was more rounded from the back and weighed a pound and a half more than the recent devices. It was a huge device when compared to the recent tablet devices in the market. But iPads gave a strict competition to PC’s, thanks to their tiny design compared to PC’s.

The future of iPads is inconsistent though. There are an ample of challenges to be faced by this product in the future. The sales of iPads have slowed down and it is an alarming sign for the tablet maker. The sales of classic iPad were much more than its recent editions. We will have to wait and see how this tablet thrives in the market with such slowdown in terms of its sales.
