Firefox OS 1.1 update announced – more Smartphones to feature OS soon

Mozilla planned to launch Firefox OS soon in new countries with a new 1.1 update to the software, which comes with performance tweaks, new push notifications API, more contacts elements, adaptive app search, keyboard improvements, Firefox browser downloads and MMS support.

The Firefox OS 1.1 announcement is the first major release since its launch and Mozilla planned to release the update for the OS in every quarter. In July, Mozilla’s Firefox OS introduced in the smartphones (Alcatel One Touch Fire and ZTE Open), now it aimed to expand the range and global reach.

Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica already partnered with Mozilla has plans to release the already launched 2 devices in many countries in 2013. Till date, Telefonica released the ZTE Open in Spain and both the devices in Venezuela and Columbia since 2 months. The carrier has planned to release these Firefox OS running devices in Brazil by the end of 2013. Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile brand already released the handsets in Poland and has the plans to launch in Germany, Greece and Hungary. Norway’s Telenor also has plans to release ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire in Montenegro, Serbia and Hungary in 2013 end.
