While Apple fans are eagerly waiting for more details on Apple Watch at the “Spring Forward” product event, it is rumored that the company will reveal details of the 12-inch MacBook Air. Photos, features and release date of the new Macbook with Retina display is expected to be revealed at the event.
Apple has not added any changes to MacBook Air for some time and is due for a refresh. Reports also provide proof that Apple had notified its dealers to cut prices on the MacBook Air and has stopped shipments of the laptop. Ming-chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities is claiming that the new MacBook will feature Retina display, similar to the one in MacBook Pro and a redesigned chassis. According to The Micheal Report the MacBook Air aims to leverage Intel’s new Broadwell M low-power processors that does not include a fan, thus facilitating thinner design.
This indicates that the new MacBook will have an improved battery life and the thin design might lead Apple to do away with full size USB ports, MagSafe connectors and SD slot. ifanR, a Chine blog leaked the rumored chassis of the laptop which means that the laptop will be first of its kind to include reversible USB Type C connector. The laptop might come in a new space grey color and will retian the headphone jack and dual-microphones for input on the right side.
Apple is expected to increase the price of MacBook Air as it features Retina display though prices might remain the same if some specifications are removed. While Apple is expected to reveal details of the laptop, the company might launch the device in June and will be available in the market by July if the company does not face any manufacturing delays.
