Finally, the search engine giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has released its Android for Work, since it need to make more efforts to enter more into the business world. It brings out more number of devices into the work platform by innovating, managing and securing over the Android platform.
Google wants to dominate all market segments before someone else does. Hence, it is trying to fit into the Business users’ pockets.
Rajen Sheth, Director of Product Management, Android and Chrome for Work wrote as,
“Today [Thursday] we’re announcing the Android for Work program to tap into that potential. With a group of partners, we’re helping businesses bring more devices to work by securing, managing and innovating on the Android platform,” and he added “features four key technology components,”
The four main components that are mentioned by Sheth are:
Work Profile: Google has built the Android to work with default encryption, enhanced SELinux security enforcement and also provides multi-user support in Android 5.0 Lollipop. This allows creation of multiple and dedicated work profile for the users; in the meanwhile, the data are protected by isolating them. The users can easily store their data in the work platform under personal as well as work data, and this allows the manager to only check for work data, not the personal data of the users.
Android for Work App: The Android devices that run on ICS or Kitkat operating system, doesn’t support the work profiles by default. Rather than that, Google has developed the Android for Work App that delivers secure mail, documents, browsing and other access to work apps that are managed by IT.
Google Play for Work: This simplifies the process of distributing the application to other devices under a management and also ensures that the application is approved by IT or not.
Built-in Productivity Tools: The Android for work comes with all sorts of business application for emails, calendar, and other such similar applications for various official tasks such as editing a documentation, spreadsheets and presentations too.
With almost 1 billion Android users, Android operating system now also offers device makers, developers to make things safer and more manageable for business.
