Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has added the Xbox app to its latest January build of Windows 10 that will allow members of the Insider program to test the app. The software giant plans to update the Xbox app based on feedback from members.
The developers of the app have focussed on “the basics” for the initial release and includes support for HD resolution support, keyboard and mouse functionality. Microsoft has promised to continually add new features to the app on Windows until till the time when the final version of the software is released, later this year. Some of the basic features of the Xbox app are “Your Profile” that provides quick access to Xbox profile and game achievements. The initial preview build includes Activity that provides detailed information on the last game played, Achievements for browsing the games, Following that displays friend lists and games. Users can view recorded game footage through Game Clips.
The Xbox app “Home” page will provide access to recently played games, friends, online status and activity feeds for games, videos and others. Users will be able to search and add new friends and follow popular gamers and content creators on Xbox Live Community via VIP’s on Xbox like Clip Creators and Popular Broadcasters.
Messages are used to view notifications and to send/receive messages from other users. Using the Windows app, users can view the current version of the Xbox in “Settings”. Live tile can be turned on or off and the same can be done for notification of Favorite online, Twitch broadcast started and messages. More features and updates are expected to be added in the future to make it an attractive app for gamers.
