Despite incurring heavy losses in the previous quarter Blackberry continues to stand strong in its battle in the smartphone market. With a new channel of sales through its own website, customers can purchase unlocked versions of Q10 and Z10 smartphones from the company directly.
Severe losses suffered by Blackberry in recent months was the reason for the latest move. On Wednesday T-Mobile announced Blackberry smartphones would not be stocked due to a huge decrease in customer demands.However customers can get their devices shipped by the carrier on request. The latest move by Blackberry shows its no longer relying on the carriers to push the sales of its devices.
Even though it is unlikely fix all the problems, the company could benefit from online sales. The flagship smartphones which are available as unlocked versions, which means it can work with GSM network in any part of the world. Currently the Online market is available only to U.S and there has been no plans on expanding to other markets.
The unlocked version of Q10 smartphone is placed slightly higher than Z10 which costs $549 and $449 respectively. Black and White are the colors available for both the smartphones. However, last month BlackBerry Z30 launched, which is the improved version of its previous model.
