The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask has already topped the list of the most anticipated games in 2015. It shares this honor along with such other upcoming and coveted game titles such as Batman: Arkham Knight and Halo 5. The Legend of Zelda will see an exclusive Wii U release and nothing has come from the game’s developers regarding the game’s release on other platforms.
However, this single platform release intended only for Wii U has not deterred the game’s fans and news about the quick selling out of the limited edition version of this game has been trickling. The website Attack of the Fan Boy reported that the pre-orders for the limited edition release in Canadian web stores have already sold out. The US web stores too have a similar story to tell about the stock selling immediately after showing up as available. This has led to frustrated consumers who are lamenting about the lesser number of units being put up for sale. All this mad rush and quick selling out is being explained to be a result of the availability of a Skull Figurine in the limited edition box.
The Legend of Zelda franchise is a high fantasy themed action-adventure game that centers on the main playable protagonist, ‘Link’ and his faithful steed, ‘Epona’ who scout for adventure in the fictional territory of ‘Hyrule. One of the original game’s developers and currently Nintendo and Legend of Zelda director, Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto claimed in a YouTube interview that the game play has been designed keeping in mind the needs of a contemporary lifestyle. He explained that mission lengths therefore have been minimized and additionally, a lot of side missions have been added to the game world. This was done to target today’s lifestyle which does not afford gamers long stretches of time to complete missions of longer lengths.
However, compared to the previous versions where the world map was segmented into several parts, the developers this time around have focused on a much larger contiguous map. This was part of the reason why the game was developed exclusively for Wii U.
“But now with the hardware capabilities of the Wii U, what we did is we first started by saying, ‘Let’s see what we can do if we take an entire world the size of the world from Twilight Princess and just try to make that as one area in the game,” Miyamoto said in a YouTube Interview.
Further, “Legend of Zelda” producer Eiji Aonuma has also hinted at an evolving storyline and game play which will be influenced to a large extent by Link’s actions and interactions with the open world realm.
All one can do right now is hope for the next stock getting available and scoop it up as fast as possible for the limited edition collectible.
