Facebook’s new Stickered for Messenger was released on Google Play on Saturday. The app allows the user to add smileys to faces and share them with friends via Facebook Messenger app.
The app will be released for Apple App Store soon. Facebook also released major updates to the Messenger app that includes sending states (delivered, seen, sent) indicated with animated globes. As a part of the Christmas season, the social-networking site released a holiday themed sticker packs and festive frames for New Year selfies. The frames are similar to the ones found in Snapchat and the feature will be available from January 1.
“Stickers and photos are two of the most popular ways people express themselves on Messenger,” said Facebook.
The company mentioned that it was a fun experiment to combine the two. The new app is the first companion app for messenger created by Facebook’s Creative Labs mobile design. The app does not force users to log-in to the Facebook account for trying it out and the completed art works can be saved to phone or can be shared via Messenger.
The free Stickered app is ad-free and features 52 categories with more than thousands of stickers. Popular ones include Pikachu, Teletubbies, burger head man, chicken puking a rainbow and many more. Facebook has surprisingly added a dislike button for clipart within the app with the “Like” button. Every sticker is customizable to change the size, shape and direction according to the selfie.
Facebook is not planning to generate revenue from the app and has kept the app clean for the time being without any ads. More stickers including free and paid one are expected to be included in future updates. Apart from the new app, the company released speed improvement updates to the Messenger app.[ Source ]
