Rumor: 12.2-inch iPad Air Plus (iPad Pro?) with next-Gen A9 processor

According to a Japanese magazine Mac Fan, Apple is reportedly working on iPad Air Plus that is expected to be launched during April-June 2015. The rumored device will feature a next-gen A9 processor, stereo speakers and 12.2-inch instead of the speculated 12.9-inch display.Apple-iPad_Reuters_NEW1-624x351

The report was released after the magazine found a blueprint that revealed certain specifications of the tablet. The device has a size of 305.31 x 220.8 x 7mm and expected to have four speakers around the edges of stereo sound. Another Japanese website, Macotakara also claimed that the device will feature a microphone and speakers on multiple edges. The tablet might also be named iPad Pro, though iPad Air Plus is more likely considering the iPhone 6 Plus.

The tablet will not be as thin as iPad Air 2 but will have a similar size of the iPhone 6. Several reports during August and October claimed that Apple was planning to release a 12.9-inch tablet in early 2015 and the company decided to cut down the production of iPad Air to improve production of iPhone 6. The real reason behind the delay of iPhones and the lesser production of the iPad Air indicates that the company is certainly working on a new tablet.

The report also revealed that iPad Mini 4 will be released, powered by the existing A8X processor and is expected to feature a sleek, thin design. The iPad Mini and iPad 3 will be discontinued after Mini 4’s release, though the release date of the tablet has not been mentioned. The company is likely to include the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Recently, Min-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities stated that Apple might not produce the rumored tablet until the second quarter of 2015 as it will need more time to yield and component assembly.
