Facebook has continued to diversify its social network with separate apps for each of its core social networking features. Earlier, the company has separated its Pages app, and later forced its users to download and use Facebook Messenger for messaging. And now, Facebook Groups come as a standalone app for group activities.
Available as Android and iOS apps, Facebook Groups application built similar to that of Facebook Pages. Facebook hasn’t only released the standalone version of Groups app, but also updated the looks and UI without interfering on its core features. Facebook added few more features such as unread counts and easy share option.
Now onwards, Facebook users can easily create, discover and join groups quicker than before. According to a Facebook spokesperson, users were not comfortable to participate in group activities on their mobile devices, because it was taking longer time than the desktop version.
Apart from Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups and Facebook Messenger apps, the world’s largest social network also had Poke and Camera app, which were shut down and removed from app stores in early 2014. Last month, Facebook also introduced an anonymous chatting app for its social network users – Rooms. Rooms app is now only available for iPhone and iPad users, and the company said the Android version is coming soon.
