While Nintendo is gearing up to release Super Smash Bros. for Wii U next week, the popular game is now playable on a graphing calculator. The version was created by Omnimaga forum user and can be imported to a TI-83 or TI_84 calculator via USB.
The clone of the game was created for Nintendo GameCube for Z80 calculators. Users can also tweak the source code for modifications as the user created it on a modular engine. The game was spotted by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier during a blog-post in Tiny Cartridge. Nintendo announced today that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has sold more than 1 million units which were released on October 3. The 3DS has been popular with consumers as 44.14 million units have been sold till June 30th, 2014.
The calculator version was created by modder Hayleia who is looking for contributing users and help in the development of the game. Currently, the game features Fox and Falco as characters, though the game is likely to develop and popularity in the coming days. Despite, the low black-and-white resolution the game has caught up with popularity.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii is a much awaited title among gamers and Nintendo is also hoping for strong sales during the fall. The company will offer a “pre-loading” for the game’s Wii U version, though the game holds a record sales figure. Best Buy will offer the upcoming Wii U game in the 32GB Super Mario 3D world Wii Deluxe and is expected to announce a black Friday deal which will include Nintendo Land and Donkey Kong: Country.
Just before the release of the Wii U version, the graphing calculator version has given an additional promotion for the company. The source code, compatible for TI-83 and TI-84 calculators can be downloaded here.
