Sony is set to unveil a new Xperia Z4 lineup that will include a flagship smartphone, a Z4 Compact, a Z4 tablet and a Z4 Ultra phablet. The company had already started to work on its new lineup after the release of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.
Sony Xperia Z4
According to a source, the Z4 will feature wireless Qi-wireless charging support as the earlier magnetic charging support found in Xperia Z3 will be withdrawn. The microUSB on the smartphone will not have flaps as users had complained of loosening flaps in earlier smartphones. The Z4 retains the IP68 water-resistant certification similar to the Xperia Z3. The hardware will comprise of a Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core chipset with 4GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device comes with a 13MP rear camera with a HD sensor and a 8MP secondary camera.
Xperia Z4 tablet and Xperia Z4 Ultra
The Xperia Z4 tablet will feature a 10.1-inch QHD display with 1440p resolution, though the company is reportedly working on a 4K (2160p resolution). The tablet will carry the speakers found on the Xperia Z3 Compact tablet and the specifications are similar to the Xperia Z4. Detailsof the Z4 Ultra are limited though the device will feature a 6.4-inch display and will come with a higher 2160p resolution.
Xperia Z4 Compact
The Z4 Compact will be launched alongside the above devices and will feature a 4.6-inch display with an upgraded resolution of 1920×1080 and upgraded hardware similar to the Z4.
Recently, Sony had appointed a new head for Sony Mobile Communications to revamp the lagging mobile business. The company also seems to have dropped the plans of only developing only two flagships per year and has started to focus on developing a new lineup with premium specifications in a move to win back consumers.
