Comparison of a Samsung smartphone and an iPhone is always quite interesting, as we now talk of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6. The last part of the 3rd quarter has been filled with quite a few Smartphones to talk about. With the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus, to the announcement of various other smart phones, a geek has had a lot of things to ponder upon. While many considered that Apple Inc. had lost its touch back in the year 2013, the arrival of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has made many of them change their minds.
On the other hand, it is believed that Samsung is making way to a bad patch in the coming period. With Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4, not as successful as its predecessors, the announcement of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge seems like an effort to make a few things right straight away. The experts think that Samsung should not make the same mistakes like Apple Inc. and look forward to innovate. Now, the question is, “Is Samsung Galaxy Note Edge an innovation or a same material in a different package?”
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6: the main specs compared
Well, as it would be fit to say, I will certainly give Samsung Galaxy Note Edge one extra point on the flat and edgy design that it has. As Apple has added quite an exquisite look to iPhone and thus Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has done very well to steal a few looks from iPhone. If I am asked to choose between Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6, my choice will be Edge based on the design.
Now shifting to the display, I find both Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone having a display of approximately the same size. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge comes with a display size of 5.6 inches compared to iPhone 6’s 5.5 inch display. What makes Note Edge take the game away is the resolution! Samsung Galaxy Note Edge brings in a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels as opposed to 1080 x 1920 pixels in iPhone 6.
Apple produces its own processors. Thus, it is quite foolish thing to judge Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6 based on the processors. iPhone 6 comes with a 1.4 GHz dual core A8 chipset whereas Samsung Galaxy Note Edge comes with probably a much better configuration at 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processors.
I have a firm belief that iOS and Android should not be compared. This is because both the operating systems are exquisite in their own arena. The only thing to talk about in this sector is that both Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6 come with the latest Android Kitkat 4.4.4 and iOS 8 respectively. It is expected that within some time after the launch of Android L with Nexus 6, Samsung will roll out an upgrade for Note Edge as well.
When you are comparing the camera of two devices like Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6, the quality of the display plays a major role in the kind of pictures that you see. Moving on to direct comparison, we will notice that iPhone 6 is half in numbers compared to Note Edge. iPhone 6 has a primary camera of 8 MP and a secondary camera of just 1.2 MP, whereas on the other hand, Note Edge comes with a 16 MP primary camera and a 3.7 MP secondary camera for selfies.
Memory has always been a problem with Apple devices. Although iPhone 6 comes in variants of 16 GB, 32Gb and 64GB of internal memory, but the absence of the memory card slot gives away a lot of points. On the other hand, the Samsing Galaxy Note Edge comes with an internal memory of 32 GB and 64 GB. The smartphone also supports MicroSD card up to 128 GB. Thus, it is quite clear that Note Edge can hold data approximately 5 times that of iPhone 6. In addition, iPhone 6 has 1GB RAM compared to 3GB RAM of Note Edge.
Although iPhone 6comes with a battery which falls way behind Note Edge, but I will say that it is enough. Apple Inc. makes its devices in such a way that its use can be optimized to take in minimal power. iPhone 6 has a 1810 mAh battery, but it is certainly way more than what is required for general purpose. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has a 3000 mAh battery which will allow you to do anything with the device. Thus, overall both Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6 have power storages optimized to their own requirements, which puts both in equal seats.
Now, this is really tough. One will surely fall in a fix if asked to choose between Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and iPhone 6. Coming to the point, if you have finances as a concern, then none of the devices will suit you. As far as I am concerned, Note Edge has an interesting design according to me as well as will provide me with better memory. Thus, I will go with Samsung Galaxy Note Edge over iPhone 6. But still, iPhone 6 will be a quality product at any time of the year.
