Being the last update of 2014, Microsoft has started rolling out November update to Xbox One that brings Twitter gameplay sharing and SmartGlass features. Other features include customization options, TV features and improvements in the Xbox One Store.
In October, the update was announced and previewed to Xbox One preview program members. Microsoft has released 10 updates since the release of the console that brought in more than hundred features like a remote manager for downloads, battery indicator, external storage and many more. One of the main feature in the latest update is the ability to use a background image for a user’s Xbox Live account. An image, either in JPG or PNG format can be transferred to the console via USB.
“Although we will not be putting out an update in December, we remain committed to continually improving Xbox One,” said Microsoft’s Larry Hryb in a post on Xbox Wire.
Xbox has brought in an old feature from Xbox 360 that displays bio, location and optional display of achievements and game clips along with the profile. The profile can feature up to six game clips that can be shared on Twitter and users can view other’s profile using the SmartGlass app on the smartphone. Real time comments on TV shows can be viewed as Twitter and live TV has been integrated on the console. The SmartGlass will feature a new section called Coming Soon for upcoming titles along with the release date.
The console’s home screen includes a new “What’s On” tab that compiles shows, movies from TV, Twitch and other streaming services. A manual reset has also been made easier with a menu command without the need to go near the console. The update was released on Nov. 7, Friday and is available for download. The company has worked hard to make the console as efficient and feature-rich as possible by bringing in multiple features instead of making it a strict gaming-only device.
