Nissan recalls more than 50,000 vehicles over airbag issue

The woes related to the airbags continue as Nissan announces the recall of more than 50,000 models from more than 5 states in the United States. According to the reports, Nissan Motor Corporation has increased the number of recalls it made the last time around. The issue dates back to the Takata Airbags, which can evidently even kill the drivers. The defect in the airbags is such that on inflation, the airbags can send out sharp objects, which can hurt the drivers and the passenger in the front seat in places like the eyes, the throat, etc.. It has been claimed that the injuries can be fatal as it has already killed at least 3 to 4 men in the United States.Nissan adds to the list of recalled cars; numbers increase significantly

Nissan Motor Corporation had initially announced a recall in the states in the United States that are prone to high humid climates. It has been observed that the airbags are working out of the system, throwing out sharp objects, when they are subjected to humid conditions. The reports state that Nissan has recalled 53,000 models from the states of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Nissan will also recall cars from Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Hawaii, etc..

The recall made by Nissan Motor Corporation will affect the car models like 2003-04 Pathfinder, 2004-06 Sentra, 2003-04 Infiniti I35, FX35, FX45, M35 and M45. The car maker has stated that it will notify the customers about the procedure to be followed and the authorized dealers will replace the airbags free of cost.

Nissan Motor Corporation is not the only car maker who has been affected by the defective airbags. Other major car makers include Honda, Ford, etc.. The reports also include that quite a few SUV’s can also be deemed defective due to the same issue. Although no recalls have been made yet, but one can be sure that it is just a matter of time now.
