Facebook news feed is an integral part of your social time you spend on the site. The news feed brings you the latest updates from your friend list and the people you are connected to. The way information is retrieved and brought to you is going to change according to this new update.
The freedom to opt out of information you do not want is key in this new update. Each user will have more control over the news feed and will be able to give instant feedback on it. Not just friends, the feed also brings you updates of important people you follow and fetches feed from the Pages and Groups you are a part of.
According to Greg Marra, Product Manager at Facebook, users can now manage news feed by quickly unfollow and re-follow people according to their present interests. Same goes with the pages and groups that you liked and joined, you can quickly unfollow and discontinue those posts on your news feed. If you like something that is shared via your friends of the page you like, you can quickly follow it and start enjoying news feed updates from them.
Major update is the list of top people, pages and groups that appear in your news feed over the last seven days. This gives a clear picture of the kinds of stories you see. You can sort the people, pages and groups according to your preference.
The seen most from last week list is extremely helpful when you the filtering based on your interests. The power of choice lies in your hands, where you can choose to enjoy more information or vice versa opt out. Starting the first week of November, new feed settings will be added to Facebook’s desktop and mobile app.
To View News Feed Settings:
- Click in the top-right corner of any Facebook page (for example, your home page)
- Select News Feed Settings
- Click People, Pages or Groups to sort by category, and then click Alphabetical Order if you want to see one of those lists in alphabetical order
To Adjust News Feed settings:
Click Following next to any person, Page or group to unfollow them and stop seeing their stories in your News Feed
Click Follow next to any person, Page or group you’ve unfollowed to start seeing stories from them again
