A leaked memo has revealed that the release of the much-anticipated Apple Watch won’t release till 2015 due to setbacks in the battery and the display. Angela Ahrendts, Apple Retail SVP confirmed that the wearable device will be available in stores only after the Christmas season.
The leaked transcript was a video message from Ahrendts in which she told Apple employees to be ready for a busy spring next year for the release of the Apple Watch. Recently, reports suggested that the device has faced some manufacturing problems and this is seen as the likely cause of the delay in release. Earlier, Apple CEO Tim Cook had mentioned that the smartwatch would release by “early 2015” during the launch event.
“We’re going into the Chinese New year, and then we’ve got a new watch coming in spring,” said Ahrendts in the video.
However the exact date of the release was not stated, though it is predicted that it could release any time by March end or in the first week of June. As Apple Watch will be limited to US in the early days of release, the wearable could reach the UK and other worldwide markets only by 2015-end. Last week, the Apple CEO stated that the device will need to be charged daily and the company might be finding ways to solve the issue.
Jeff Williams, Apple SVP of operations confirmed that there were delays by stating that we wanted to make the best product in the world and they were willing to wait. He added that the company could have made the device much earlier but wanted to provide quality and integration of the products. Apple users do not seem to be delayed by the release as many fans are yet get their hands on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus while they wait for the best smartwatch from the company.
The early release of Apple WatchKit SDK for developers in this month, will allow the developers to study the sphere of development well. In addition, the early release will also aid the pace of application development and testing of various applications for the Apple Watch.
On the other hand, Apple Inc. is currently riding the atmosphere around the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Thus, it is quite clear that Apple Watch will come some time when the enthusiasm around iPhone ceases. Thus, the developers have the time to develop a decent number of applications!
