Xiaomi, a new Chinese smartphone-maker released its Mi3 in November 2013, and later, released its much cheaper model Redmi 1S in July 2014. Xiaomi Mi3 carries better specifications and features while Redmi 1S is aimed at price conscious consumers with mid-range features.

Display and Hardware:
Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a 4.70-inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 resolution and 312ppi. The high-end Xiaomi Mi3 features a 5-inch IPS display with 1080 x 1020 resolution with 412ppi. Xiaomi Redmi 1S is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. Mi3 features a powerful 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a 8MP primary camera with 1.6MP secondary camera while Mi3 is equipped with a 13MP primary and A 2MP secondary camera. The latter carries a dual-LED flash while Remi 1S features a single-LED flash.
Build, Battery and Storage:
Both the devices feature a plastic build. Redmi 1S is backed by a removable 2000mAh Li-Ion battery while Mi3 is powered by a 3500mAh non removable Li-Ion battery. Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes with 8GB internal storage and can be expanded via MicroSD card while Xiaomi come with 16Gb storage and lacks a MicroSD slot. Both the devices are offered in a range of colors like gray, yellow, red, black, green that are almost similar with Gold being an addition to Mi3.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S runs on customized Android Jellybean 4.2 with MIUI version 5 while Xiaomi Mi3 runs on customized Android Kitkat 4.4 with MIUI version 5. Redmi 1S has GSM dual-SIM slot while Mi3 comes only in single-SIM variants. Both the devices feature 3G cellular connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0. The range of built-in sensors in the devices is similar with Mi3 having an additional Barometer sensor.
Xiaomi Mi3 is a high-end smartphone from the company, and priced at around $250 in Asian countries, while the device is now selling through its online store with the price tag of $379 for the global users (US and UK). Xiaomi Redmi 1S is being sold at $100 in Asian countries, while the third-party sellers are selling it in the US for around $200.
It is well known that Xiaomi Mi3 emerges as a winner with the high-end specifications, but Xiaomi Redmi 1S is feature-rich and has an additional SIM slot and is priced lesser when compared to other phones in the market. Most importantly, both of these devices aren’t available for sale in major smartphone markets like the US and UK.
