SAN FRANSISCO – PlayJam’s Gamestick gaming console to arrive in store shelves from October 29th onwards – previously announced to be released on September 30th.
We haven’t received any information on the reason for the 1 month’s delay for the release date. However, this time company’s press release confirmed the exact date and on 29th of October, the device will be available at US and UK. Rest of the countries, including middle east, rest of the European countries, Canada will be getting this device “prior to the end of holiday season”, said the company.
The android-powered gaming console is priced at expected $79.99, whereas the people who backed the project at Kickstarter crowdsourcing will get the console 3-4 weeks earlier than the retail date, which means during the first week of October. Rest of us can buy this gadget from Amazon, GameStop or GAME (UK only) for the above price. Canadian people can buy from Amazon CA and The Source.
When PlayJam listed the gaming console on Kickstarter, it reached the goal of $100k target in less than 30 hours and totally it has got the fund of $647658 from 5691 backers – which created more hype for the device. Another android based gaming console The Ouya also added XBMC feature last summer, which also backed by the Kickstarter crowdsource (63,416 backers raised $8,596,474 of $9000K).
GameStick has added XBMC and DLNA functionality to the device apart from only ability of playing any Android games on your TV with High Definition resolution.
