Apple has released a series of gadgets in recent months. Following iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, October month has witnessed the launch of new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets. A detailed analysis of the specs and features of the latest iPad Air 2 that was released a week back and the yet-to-be released HTC Google Nexus 9.
Both the devices feature an IPS display, but the iPad Air 2 features an anti-glare display that claims to reduce reflections by 56 percent. The Nexus 9 has the ability to wake up when the screen is double-tapped. The Nexus 9 and Air 2 has a resolution of 2048×1536, but the former has 288ppi when compared to 264ppi. The iPad has a large 9.7-inch screen while the Nexus 9 has a 8.9-inch display with 4:3 aspect ratio.
Coming to the hardware, the iPad Air 2 is powered by a A8X 64-bit tri-core 1.5GHz processor that will most likely outperform Nexus 9’s Tegra K1 64-bit dual-core 2.3GHz processor and both devices come with 2GB of RAM. Both the tablets almost have similar cameras with 8MP rear cameras with f/2.4 aperture while the front camera in the Nexus 9 differs with 1.6MP while the iPad has 1.2MP. The HTC tablet carries a single-led flash for camera.
The iPad Air 2 features a 27.3 W-h batter which claims to provide 10 hours of internet use over Wifi while the Nexus 9 promises a battery life of 9.5 hours. The iPad Air is available in 16GB, 64Gb and 128GB models, while the Nexus 9 comes in 16GB and 32GB variants. Both the devices lack a MicroSD option. The iPad comes loaded with the latest iOS 8.1 and the Nexus 9 with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Nexus 9 is quite lighter than the iPad Air 2 as the latter weighs 437 grams when compared to 425 grams. With a thickness of 6.1mm the iPad is 24 percent thinner than the Nexus with 8mm thickness. The iPad Air 2 has an aluminium build and comes in silver, space gray and gold colors.The Nexus come in a plastic-metal build and comes in sand, white and black colors. The Touch ID sensor in the iPad is the unique feature in the Apple tablet.
The Nexus 9 is priced $100 cheaper than the iPad Air 2 which is priced at $500. The Nexus 9 will be released early November and the Air 2 will start shipping by October end. Both the tablets are unique in their own features as they work on iOS and Android ecosystems.
