Google’s Eric Schmidt: The global warming skeptics are liars

Eric Schmidt, a name that needs no introduction in the world of technology, admitted to Google’s mistake of funding American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in its false climate related claims. The former CEO and not chairman of the tech giant expressed that the whole ‘anti-climate’ and anti-clean energy agenda of ALEC is a big fat lie. Google regrets funding it in the first place and will cut ties with the council at the end of this year. Microsoft also recently ended their association with ALEC due to the policy group’s involvement in a murder related controversy.eric-schmidt-642x485

Google is fed up with the false claims and lies ALEC is spreading about global warming. Chairman Eric Schmidt said, “I think the consensus within the company was that that was some sort of mistake and so we’re trying to not do that in the future.”

The way ALEC is making things politically is unacceptable to Google, and therefore it has decided to act on it. The council was trying to kill renewable energy, according to Schmidt. They even taught kids about climate denial, which is harmful for future generations to come. The association turned out to be a bad investment that will not continue.

The lobbying firm was being opposed by so many environmentalists, but Google seemed to have woken up late. The claims were confusing and were opposite to the plans of the company. Google wants all its server farms to run on 100% renewable energy. The investments in clean energy, solar and wind projects, have been made to facilitate this.

Google is going to reap billions in profit with the renewable energy projects. Therefore, it is better for them to divorce the likes of climate deniers, ALEC. Eric Schmidt was clear in his interview when he said, “And so we should not be aligned with such people — they’re just, they’re just literally lying.”
