The Federal Investigators in the United States are seemingly bent on bringing Child Predators to the punishment. The agencies are expanding the availability of a Smartpjhone application which allows the normal people to track down suspected child predators. The application is a product of the Homeland Security Investigations division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and till date it was available for the iOS users only. As a part of the steps taken to being more protective, the Homeland Security Investigations division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has launched the application for Android users as well.
According to the reports, the Federal Agencies have a list of suspects of 12 men who are charged with various punishable acts on Children. The punishable acts include production, possession and distribution of pornographic videos of minors, including their trafficking as well. According to the officials the application will help the Federal agencies to expand their reach and in turn allow them to track down the Child Predators. The users with the application can easily help the Federal agencies to locate the suspects and then inform the respective authorities as well.
The application works like FBI’s ’10 Most Wanted List’ where the users will be provided with the basic information of the suspects i.e., their photos, identification details, etc.. The Operation Predator application was initially launched last year for iOS users and now the application has been released for Android users as well. The iPhone application has already helped the Federal Agencies to track down and take down 3 suspects.
The Child Predator application might just be a part of a huge program aimed at tracking down fugitives with the help of the local people. According to many people, this will in turn help in reducing crime rates. More that 90,000 iOS versions of the application has been installed since its launch in September 2013.
