Apple is expected to unveil ‘gold’ variants of the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 apart from the gray and silver variants at the ‘special event‘ on October 16. The event will also unveil a new range of Mac desktops and announcements by the company.
The new 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 which will be available in a gold variant that features a golden-colored rear metal cover. Apple has decided to offer more ‘gold’ units of the new iPads in a move to boost sales and reports of declining iPad sales. This is not the first time the company has tried to rely on the color strategy as leading smartphone makers offer a variety of colors to attract customers. The gold variants in iPhones have been in much demand and is also expected to boost sales of the new iPad Air 2 and 7.9-inch iPad Mini 3.
Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the “market is weaker” for iPads in the US, but sales are improving in markets like Middle East, China and India. The gold iPhone 5s was sold out on the first week of launch in worldwide markets and the company seeks to replicate the same method for the new iPad Air 2 that will be launched in October.
Apple’s reports indicated a negative growth of 9 percent in units and 8 percent negative growth in revenue every year. Though analysts had predicted 14 million unit sales, only 13.3 million iPads were sold in the quarter ending in June. A new lineup of Mac desktops is also expected during the event that is aimed at boosting sales before the holiday season.
According to the famous technology site Cult of Mac, Apple is going to launch a 12-inch MacBook Air laptop with retina display and it comes in three different colors namely silver, gold and space gray. This would be the first time that MacBook Air comes in other color variants other than stock aluminum gray color.
Earlier in August, Apple launched a new series of Retina MacBook Pro with faster processors and a better RAM. The rumors were up on a high over the last month as the rumors of Apple’s new series of MacBooks surfaced, which will be available in screen sizes of 13-inch and 15-inch. That means, Apple is also open for the launching of a new set of MacBook Air laptops.
