According to reports, Apple is expected to unveil the iPad Air 2 and next-gen variants of the iMac and iPad Mini at an event on October 16. The Cupertino-based company is yet to give an official announcement about the low-key event for revealing the product line-up.
Last year, Apple had launched the iPad Mini with Retina and iPad Air during the same time and a larger iPad is also predicted during the launch event. The event will also see the launch of next-gen Mac desktops and the iPad Mini 3. The upcoming iPad Air is expected to have a thinner build and fingerprint sensor. Other technical upgrades include 2GB of RAM, split Window multitasking and Touch ID feature.
The Mac range of desktops is expected to get a Retina upgrade with 4K resolution support and a 27-inch outer casing. Apple mentioned only about the minor changes to the iMac during the WWDC while consumers expect more features. The iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will be available in Gold variants. The company will also announce about the sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus along with some statement related to the bendgate issue.
Developers are also eager for the release of the Apple Watch SDK before the holiday season though Apple might not provide an early release. There is also a possibility of the announcement of OSX Yosemite as it nears the end of beta testing. The low-key event involving Apple CEO Tim Cook for announcing the upcoming products will be held at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium on October 16.
According to the reports, Apple has planned to name the upcoming Apple iPad Mini 3 as iPad Mini Air; The predecessor of upcoming Apple iPad Mini 3 i.e., iPad Mini 2 has a thickness of o.30 inches. Thus the upcoming Apple iPad Mini 3 will be approximately 0.21 inches in thickness and also it will be the thinnest tablets in the world. Currently, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is the thinnest tablet, but, the record will be beaten by the Apple after releasing the iPad Mini Air.
Apple seeks to dominate the tablet market with the iPad Air 2 as sales of iPad dropped from 19.48 million units to 16.35 million units in the previous quarter. The iPad Air remains as a popular choice among tablet users, though a recent IDC survey revealed that iPad’s share in the market fell by 33 percent.
The iPad Air 2 will see a significant upgrade in terms of performance and graphics with the A8 chip. The A8 chip is designed to improve battery life and efficiency. Apple iPad Air 2 might come with a 9.7-inch LCD display with the same resolution (2048 x 1536) of its predecessor and will be made by LG, Samsung and Sharp. ETNews has mentioned that the company has started producing displays in June and other parts and the camera module will be produced by next month.
