Plants vs Zombie Adventures owned by Electronic Arts and developed by PopCap has announced that it would shut down the game on Facebook on Oct 12.
As a reward for users the game has offered a gift of 50,000 coins of the Bejeweled Blitz game. The Adventure version of the game was only available on Facebook and the developer PopCap does not have any future plans to bring it to other platforms. The company stated that it was a tough decision to retire the game from Facebook. The reason for the shutdown has not been mentioned.
“We hope you’ll continue to find enjoyment in our other Plants vs Zombies games and we’ll see you battling on those lawns soon,” as mentioned in the Facebook game.
“We are sorry to say that Plants vs. Zombies Adventures is being retired from Facebook on October 12, 2014. It is always a sad decision to stop development on a game we have put so much love into, and we share your disappointment, as we too are gamers and fans, first and foremost.”
Users who access the game on Facebook will be displayed with a message and a link that would offer 50,000 coins for Bejeweled Blitz game. The company mentioned that all the game data will be lost after Oct 12 and urges users to use any virtual currency or assets before the shutdown.
The Plants vs Zombies Adventures forum will no longer accept new members and the site stated that it would shut down the discussion boards in 90 days. There has been no moderation in the website for the past 2 months. Plants vs Zombies and its sequel is widely popular among Android and iOS users. The lack of gamers in Facebook is likely to be the reason for the shutdown of the game.
