Ford makes yet another recall this year of the older models of hybrid SUVs. The year 2014 has probably seen the most recalls being made from the car makers. According to a rough statistic, the number of cars that have been recalled this year has probably crossed over the mark of $50 or $60 million. Interestingly, this has not been the case for just a few companies. Rather a vast community of car makers has had to suffer from the issue of recall. Ford has suffered a lot due to these recalls and its suffering continues with the recent recall of approximately 74,000 SUV’s.
According to the reports, Ford is all set to make a recall of approximately 74,000 older models of gas-electric hybrid SUV’s. The recalls will be made in various parts of he United States and Canada due to some issues with stalling. The recall made by Ford covers the Ford Escapes of the period 2005 to 2008 and the Mercury Mariners from 2006 to 2008.
According to Ford, the coolant pump of the models are under some sort of risks in case of the hybrid models and might very well fail leading to excessive heating of the electronic components. This might very well end up posing a greater risk to the vehicle, especially when on the highway. There are no precise mentions of accidents or crashes in the above mentioned models, but there is actually no point in taking risks.
The car maker is expected to initiate the recall process around 27th, October. All the customers will have to do is bring in the SUV’s to the deals and they will replace the cooling pump for free.
