Alex Macgillivray planned to move on by leaving Twitter’s General Counsel post and confirmed in his personal blog. Prior joining Twitter in 2009, he also worked as DGC of Product at IP at Google. Now, Vijaya Gadde will replace the ex-Googler as GC of Twitter. Vijaya Gadde served as director in Twitter’s legal department since 2011.
Passing the torch. I care deeply about Twitter and our users, will continue to help while exploring other passions http://t.co/EBY6UZyN72<

Alex posted in his blog:
As we transition, I will dial back my day to day involvement with Twitter. I’ll continue to support the company and its great people by staying on as an advisor for the legal, trust & safety, corporate development and public policy teams. I continue to care deeply about Twitter, the folks who work at Twitter and our tremendous users, so I’ll remain close to all three.
Previously, Gadde worked as associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Alex Macgillivray also formerly worked as an attorney there. Though Vijaya doesn’t have the same good faith as Alex when it comes to first amendment works, she is apparently regarded well in the company and at her former firm.
According to some trusted source, Twitter to shuffle the legal structures of the company soon. Colin Crowell, Twitter’s director of public policy will report directly to Dick Costolo, CEO and will no longer report to the General Counsel. However, he has to work with the GC, if it comes to the matters affecting Twitter and Washington.
