The Phoenix based Car maker, Elio is probably all set to revolutionize the act of driving with its all new three-wheeled car. Although the United States Government has classified the vehicle as a motorcycle, but the makers have different thoughts. According to the reports, the car that we are talking about will have three wheels; two at the front and one at the back. It seems that Elio Motors is on the course to make the streets of the United States look different with these small cars.
According to the reports, the Phoenix-based Elio Motors is planning to go into mass production very soon. The initial production of the commuter car is expected to be done at the former General Motors plant in Shreveport. The company has its eyes on producing approximately about 250,000 cars by the end of the year 2016. According to the statistics, already approximately 27,000 individuals have booked themselves the tiny car.
Speaking of the features, the commuter car will be having all the features that a general motor car possesses. In spite of being marked as a motorcycle by the United States Government, the tiny vehicle is very similar to another Fiat model or a Ford one with general features. The car will be having all the safety features, anti-lock brakes, etc. To add to it, the drivers will not need the helmets for protection.
The car is just 54 inches tall and is almost the length of a Honda Fit. The good thing is the weight, which is literally half of the others on the same size. The two seats of the car are a bit different from the normal two-seater cars with the driver in the center and the passenger directly behind him.
The car comes with a three cylinder 0.9 liter engine with a top speed of near about 100 miles per hour. With a tank of storage capacity at 8 Gallons, the car is expected to deliver about 84 miles per gallon. The tiny car has been named Elio probably after the founder of Elio Motors, Paul Elio. Elio is expected to be launched officially by the end of the year 2015 at a price of $6800.
